High Quality Instruction
Muskegon Public Schools professional staff provide high quality instruction to our students by using up-to-date curriculum materials, innovative instructional strategies and high quality professional training. At MPS, we nurture productive thinkers who thrive in an ever-changing technological society. Our teachers work collaboratively with mentors, other teachers, instructional coaches, curriculum specialists and administrators to provide high quality instruction for all students.
Whole Child Focus for Best Learning Outcomes
Nothing is more important than ensuring all MPS staff members are caring for each child academically, socially and emotionally. A guidepost of our work developed by the Centers for Disease Control using the tenets of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development focuses on the partnership of educators, parents and community partners to ensure our students are safe, healthy, engaged, supported and challenged.
Learning Resources for Families
High quality learning experiences require a whole community to interact with our young people. To provide the highest quality of education, MPS relies on our parents to utilize family learning resources to engage their children in reading at home, discovering science and social studies in their communities, and practicing mathematics. We encourage community partners to allow for field trips, work based learning experiences and other learning opportunities for our students. Families and community partners are encouraged to utilize our online resources or contact the Office of Instructional Services for more information.

Committed to Teacher Professional Development for Optimal Student Learning
We invest in weekly professional development to equip our teachers and staff for classroom success. We emphasize subject matter integration, using reading and writing in science and social studies and developing math and science concepts through hands-on activities. Effective early literacy training is critical for creating a solid learning foundation. We incorporate school improvement, blended learning, and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and CHAMPS classroom management into our teacher professional development for student success.
