  • New Special Education Director Announced:

Dr. Christine Robertson has been hired by Muskegon Public Schools as the new Director of Education. She takes over the role previously held by Mr. Justin Jennings as he is the newly appointed Superintendent.  Christine has been a devout and diligent advocate for students, especially individuals with disabilities. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she began providing services to students in community mental health and youth treatment facilities. She then returned to graduate school and earned a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Specialist Degree in School Psychology. Christine worked in the field of school psychology for over a decade at Allegan Public Schools, Allegan ISD, and Northview Public Schools providing academic and behavioral assessment and intervention across all grade levels. An interest in systems-level intervention work motivated her to pursue leadership opportunities. She accepted an administrative position with the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District as a service area director proving special education technical assistance to multiple local school districts for three years. A family relocation brought Christine back to West Michigan where she has been a special education administrator for Grand Rapids Public Schools implementing a multi-tiered system of support in early childhood education. In addition, the proximity to Western Michigan University allowed her to complete her Doctorate Degree in Education with an emphasis in special education leadership in December of 2016. She would like to continue to bring a focus of student centered, data based processes to individualize and intensify interventions for students that need supports to her work at Muskegon Public Schools.
