  • Muskegon Students Back to School:

    It was a great day back for our Muskegon students and staff. Our half-day together went smoothly and we can’t wait to see everyone again tomorrow! Great advice from our superintendent Justin Jennings – “Just come in with an attitude of learning and be ready to have fun. Learning should be fun!”


  • Early Childhood Enrollment:

  • Muskegon Welcomes New Director of Academic Services:

    We are pleased to welcome Dr. Jennifer Hammond to the Muskegon Public School District as the Director of Academic Services. Jennifer has been in public education for twenty-six years and served as a High School math teacher and student council advisor in Houston, Texas, Hamtramck, Michigan and Troy, Michigan. Her administrative experience began as an Assistant Principal at Troy High School in charge of discipline, master scheduling, guidance and counseling, and student activities. For the past twelve years, Dr. Hammond has served as the principal at Grand Blanc High School, the fourth largest high school in the state of Michigan, with over 2,700 students. She has served as the President of the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals and a member of the Michigan Council of Educator Effectiveness, which helped to develop the state-wide educator evaluation system.

    Dr. Hammond earned her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University with teaching certifications in health and mathematics, a Master’s degree in mathematics education from Wayne State University and an Educational Specialist degree and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Oakland University.

    Dr. Hammond is credited with many accomplishments during her career and is most proud of creating a school-within-a-school for at-risk students, increasing Advanced Placement student participation by over 300%, and planning and implementing an Early College program which saved local families over $20,000 in college tuition costs. Dr. Hammond’s focus has always been and will continue to be creating educational opportunities for students to experience academic success and be prepared for a successful life experiences.

    As the Director of Academic Services, Dr. Hammond’s mission will be to coordinate and enhance the curriculum, instruction and assessment process and practices in the Muskegon Public School District so that students are academically successful and access higher learning opportunities.
