To all our parents, students, and community members, welcome back!  We are very excited about the new school year.  Opening week is always filled with small glitches.  It is unavoidable when you try and correctly place 5000 students and more than six hundred staff.  What I can tell you is that if you experience one of these glitches, it will be very short term and we will work quickly to solve the concern.

We have some exciting new programs this year.  Our two-way immersion program is moving to Steele.  The increased enrollment in the program resulted in the need for more space than Moon school had.  MCEC is implementing laptop computer instructional programs.  All students will receive their own laptop.  This will change teaching and learning.  Parents can obtain information about both programs from their principals.

Our elementary and middle schools are eager to receive your children.  We have worked diligently over the summer to enhance and improve our programs for your children.  In total, we have one hundred new staff members this year.  The State’s retirement incentive program was very attractive to many of our staff.

We look forward to working with all of you this year.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please share them with the school principals, central office administrators, or myself.  We want to work with you.  Have a great year!
