Moon School Bilingual Program

Our Bilingual Program at Moon School is now in it's second year of implementation and we are still recruiting for two Kindergarten sections next year.   We will also be adding a fourth grade Two Way Immersion classroom next year.  This means that our Spanish-speaking students enter Kindergarten and are taught letters and sounds (phonemic awareness and phonics) in Spanish first.  Kindergarten and 1^st graders are taught formal literacy skills in Spanish.  They all learn to read and write in Spanish first. In second grade the students begin to transfer their fundamental literacy skills to reading and writing in English, especially toward the second semester.
